First Rate Finish is a Hamilton-based painting company, run by Monty McFarlane - a man with painting in his blood. 

Monty's father, Athol Roe, started a painting business in the 1940s when he returned from the Second World War. He passed on his skills and knowledge as a painter to his two sons, who have carried on the family tradition. Monty worked for a number of painting companies before incorporating First Rate Finish in 2010. Today, the business has a large team of painters but is also still a family affair with Monty's brother, partner and son all involved.
